Dear Friends:

I hope that you and your families have a blessed Thanksgiving that is filled with abundance, kindness, and beauty.  I have not prepared my usual newsletter.  Instead, I’d like to use it as a vehicle to give thanks to my incredible friends.  On November 13th, my house fell prey to a raging wildfire which destroyed our family’s home and earthly possessions.

I honestly don’t know what I would have done without my dear friends.  Due to their loving kindness, my heart is overflowing with gratitude—rather than despair.  I am stunned and humbled by the outpouring of love.

I will forevermore think of my friends as Earth Angels.  When I was too stunned to think, Jane-Angel and her husband/angel assistant, sprung into action.  Jane contacted a band of angel friends who generously gave us clothing and other gifts.  Jane and her husband, as well as the Hindelang family, also provided us with heavenly places to stay.

But it doesn’t end there.  Jane-Angel, and other angel friends; Mardee and Lisa, knew how sad I was to lose my most precious possession—an antique necklace that my mother gave to me the last Christmas that she was alive.  My mother received it from her own mother, who wore it on her wedding day.  My mother’s last words to me before she died in surgery were, “Be sure to check the little diamond on your necklace.”  The small crew of angel friends knew all this and more.  They met me at the site that had once been our home.  “Look!” said Jane-Angel, feigning surprise.   “What’s that?”  In the rubble there was a beautifully wrapped gift.  And inside, there was an antique necklace that looked amazingly similar to my mom’s cherished necklace.   I was overwhelmed.  How can I ever thank these precious friends for their thoughtfulness and love?

My simple thank you is all that I have to give.  Please know that it comes from the bottom of my heart.  Because of you my dear friends, we now have a plan in place for the future.  You’ve thought and planned for me when I was unable to do so and cried for me so I wouldn’t have to.  You prayed for me and those prayers have been answered.  My family and I are going to be fine.  You have earned your wings and more and are a shining example to me.  I hope that I’ll be able to pass along your legacy of loving kindness when others are in need.

Blessings to you, my angel friends.  And to all the Earth Angels reading this newsletter, I thank you for all the good works you are doing in your own lives and communities.  I’d like to give a special thanks to the organizations and individuals who have not only reached out to my family, but to the many others whose lives were affected by the CA wildfires.

My Band of Earth Angels includes:  Jane Angel, Bruce, Betsy and family, Jason, Micki and Ed, Mardee, George, and Brooke, Lisa, Marty, Virginia and Herb, Debbie and Greg, Calie, Della, Greg and Devon, Tracy and Robin, Karen, Richard and Mackenzie—and their friends, Kathy, Trish, Gloria, Nancy, Beth, Judi, Tom, TK, Chip, Chuck, Richard and Amanda, John, Ken and Marlese, Nick, Jim and Helen, Gail, Judith, Susan, my brother Mike and his wife Kathy.

I’m sure I probably forgot to thank someone in my sweet band of angels and for this, I sincerely apologize.  However, being angels, I know you’ll forgive me.

I hope your Thanksgiving is filled with love and blessings.

The barn’s burned down…but now I can see the moon.  (Masahide)

Love,
Patti
